Good day, followers of Pi Wars At Home. I'm one of the mentors/organisers of Team Stev3 this year. For the past few years, I've been involved with NI Raspberry Jam: an organisation geared toward introducing kids to code through Raspberry Pi. They meet monthly at Queens University Belfast, inspiring kids to code things like driving Microbots, lighting up LED unicorn horns, making servo-driven inchworms, and hacking Minecraft. Through NIRJ, we've been fortunate enough to have the support to enter two regular robotics challenges each year: First Lego League, and Pi Wars. We even got to travel to Cambridge for the 2019 Pi Wars event.
This year, due to Covid, our regular events have been cancelled :( .
However, this won't stop Team Stev3 :D !
Yesterday marked the first virtual meeting of Team Stev3. TBH it was mostly a lot of admin - how are going to do this, what can we do apart, what can we only accomplish in the same room, where would that room be...? Look, nothing's going to be perfect in these weird global times, but we'll do the best we can. In a world where just about everything is cancelled, I'm just glad we can still offer these four brilliant young minds the chance to meet and talk and solve technical problems. I want the kids to be driving this blog, but I'll post here from time to time, just to talk about how we're all getting on from an organisational perspective.
