I'm very displeased to report that the Sheep Stacker was a massive failure.
Cause of failure: the rubber bands.
(Second cause of failure: hubris)
Out of necessity (and genius) the entire sheep stacker runs on one motor. This motor powers the wheels that draw the sheep in, and the rubber band conveyor belt that slides the sheep across into storage position.
I built the system weeks ago, in a way that kept the rubber bands tight, well supported, and... impossible to replace without disassembling the whole thing.
Now, all this time later, the bands are weak. Any resistance from the sheep entering the wheels causes the bands to slip. When the bands slip, nothing moves. The motorised wheel just rolls in place and the rest just sits there.
Here's a bit of an attempt:
With perseverance, we were able to get it to do one run of all six sheep in 5 minutes, but that video is too excruciating to watch. I'd rather you just went back to yesterday's video and watched it when it was working in my house.
At this point, It's too late to take it all apart and restring the bands, so we need a quick new solution. But you have to admit it was a beautiful thing,, however fleeting, like a rainbow or a wild horse galloping along the beach at sunset.
