Hello! This is Kevin, the Irresponsible Adult who has been mentoring these clowns through lockdown.
I'm the one who's in charge of getting all the videos into their final form for submission.
My day job is a video game developer, which means I know my way around video editing software. It also means that if you hand me a great steaming bucket of shaky, smudgy, handheld phone video, I can turn it into a Golden Globe nominee.
Allow me to show you a little bit of movie magic...
To show off Stev3's curves in all the right places, we needed to see him from all angles... so I dug deep into my inner MacGyver and cobbled together this wonder device:
If you want to build one yourself at home, you'll need:
two bits of rubbish wood
a rotating poker chip holder
a #GBBO cake stand
a black table top with the legs unscrewed
a Lego EV3
...all filmed on a phone in a Lego cradle on a footstool, against a black shoe organiser with the knobs taken off the doors. Easy.
Then, take the resulting footage into Adobe Premiere, adjust the colour and contrast, add a vignette and some lens flare and bingo bango bongo, here's the result.
Look at that beauty! Dang that's one sexy robot. It's like watching a Mercedes Benz advert.
Probably took 4 hours of my day for 10 seconds of footage, but I think we can all agree it was worth it.
